How to read a forex currency pair
Base currency and quote currency
In EURUSD, EUR is the base currency and USD is the quote currency. The price shows how many US dollars one euro is worth. Check whether a quote is bid, ask or another indicative value before comparing it with your broker.
Pips, position size and scheduled events
A price change does not describe your account exposure on its own. Pip conventions, contract size, account currency and position size all matter. Use the economic calendar to review scheduled events, and confirm trading hours and execution terms with your broker.
